The 3 States of Matter
Learning More About The World Around Us
Liquids are states of matter with a definite volume but no definite shape. Liquids' particles have some movement, but not as much as gas. Also, liquids' particles have no particular arrangement. One example of a liquid is water.
These represent water molecules.
They move a little faster than solid molecules, but slower than gas molecules. They can slide freely past each other, but can't fly around.
Honey doesn't flow like some other liquids do. That is because honey has a high viscosity. Viscosity is how thick, sticky, gooey, or consistant something is. Like honey, other types of gooey liquids can have these same properties
